The Jaguars and Falcons square off in their last preseason game on Friday night as both teams look to finalize their rosters.
Trevor Lawrence is expected to play multiple series for Jacksonville, then Jags backup Mac Jones will look to build on his strong performance from last week. Atlanta will be resting the majority of their key starters, as they’re protecting against injury.
These personnel decisions are playing heavily into the betting markets as well as my Jaguars vs. Falcons predictions and NFL picks for August 23.

My analysis
It’s been a productive preseason for the Jacksonville Jaguars despite Trevor Lawrence playing just one series in the opener against the Chiefs. It’s a testament to how well the depth chart has stepped up to the challenge, and it’s why I’m backing the Jaguars to win by more than a touchdown tonight.
CJ Beathard will miss the game due to injury, which means the Jaguars will turn the offense over to Mac Jones once Lawrence makes away. The former Patriot quarterback looked good last weekend, and both signal callers are likely to find success against an Atlanta secondary that allowed the Ravens to complete 21 of 25 pass attempts last weekend.
On the other side of the field, the Atlanta Falcons have yet to find any semblance of offensive rhythm. Taylor Heinicke has yet to throw a touchdown and is completing less than 45% of his passes. They’ve managed just two trips into the redzone from drives that began on their half of the field, and they’ll risk none of their offensive weapons in this game.
The Jags have posted 20+ points in both preseason games, and I’m expecting them to do so again here. With the first-team units going against the second string of Atlanta, they should be able to jump out to an early lead and build on it. The Falcons have scored just 25 points in two games, and the Jaguars have allowed just 20 to the Bucs and Chiefs combined.
The line opened with Jacksonville laying 4.5 points, and the market has moved it to a full touchdown. That’s still a favorable spread for bettors to back the Jags to complete an unbeaten preseason.
